Faust Trailer
Nov '05

The Faust Trailer was and still is very important to me (V37), let me explain why. Again, this was a school assignment, this time for german class, grade 11. We were reading and talking about Goethe's "Faust", which is an incredible book (I'm not saying that I like the writing style, I'm saying the idea behind it is awesome...plus it's world literature, so go read the amazon.com synopsis if you haven't heard yet!) and the teacher gave the assignment "Make a collage of Mephistos offers and Fausts reactions to them". Most people did photo collages, but I wanted to put together a video - cause that's how I roll!

I had heard the song used in this trailer (song from one of the Spiderman 2 trailers) in the RPG trailer from the Canadians only a few days before our assignment was due, and I saw images infront of me, and knew - this had to happen. We then shot the scenes - rather quick - for 4h, after I had convinced everybody involved that a photo collage would suck.

My first experience with Immediate Music too by the way. Which I am very glad for. I got into After Effects for the trailer, to realize what I wanted it to be like. Hard days of work, I wasn't a very experienced cutter back then, but my skill adjusted to what I needed it to be at the moment, I finished the trailer - everybody was fascinated. AND we got 15 Points for it (highest score).

But what really hit me back then was that something I made could actually fascinate people THAT much. It were these reactions to it that got me into editing with all my heart. To this day, I can't think of anything I'd rather do. Thanks to Thomas G., our german class teacher, for giving us this creative opportunity and rewarding it adequate ^_^ and of course Goethe for writing the whole thing!
