About

Awesomebeard Productions is an international (oh, yes!) video and film banner started by Aaron Kurmey, in Canada, and Christian Leise, in Germany. The two have both been making short films for fun for many years and have been friends for longer. They met online on a forum that Christian owned about six years a go. Since joining Christian's forum Aaron has worked his way up from newbie member to co-owner of the board and new website, awesomebeard-productions.com (under construction) with Christian.

Since both aspire to be professional filmmakers one day, yet still work on smaller films now they decided to combine forces and put both their movies under one banner. Before AbP they were split into two smaller "studios" Generic Gamers (Aaron) and PX Studios (Christian). Now the two have become a force to be reckoned with… sort of.

The aim of AbP is to continue to make movies in collaboration with each other, by bouncing ideas off one another and using the expertise of its members to help make better, more solid films. Since filmmaking is always a learning experience, especially at the stage Aaron and Chris are at it's important to be able to receive inspiration and constructive criticism from like minded people.

AbP is also a way to help distribute the movies and allow the public to view the movies, even if there's only a small amount of people that end up seeing them. The internet is such an easy way to show the movies to others, whether by direct download off the site, or on video sites such as Youtube or Google Video.

The name was chosen because both creators generally have amazing beards on show at their own special beard gallery; their faces. Both are big advocates of beards and have therefore decided to incorporate their love of facial hair into their studio title. Not only that but it also has a somewhat strange ring to it that fits with in nicely with their films.

The logo itself, while looking fairly professional and sleek it also gives off a freer, looser feel that represents the films. The idea behind the logo is similar to other production companies such as A Band Apart, A View Askew or Los Hooligans which are more independent and experimental as they were created by Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith and Robert Rodriguez, respectively. Like the ABP logo these designs are trying to stay away from the larger Hollywood names such as Columbia, Fox, Paramount, etc.

So who knows, maybe AbP and its members will one day do something that will put them on the big screen and into the video stores.
